East Bengal Football Club, founded on August 1, 1920, is one of the oldest and most iconic football clubs in India. Based in Kolkata, West Bengal, it is widely known as the "Red & Gold Brigade or The Torch Bearers and enjoys massive support from fans across the country, especially in eastern India. The club plays its home matches primarily at the Salt Lake Stadium, one of the largest football stadiums in Asia, and also uses the East Bengal Ground for some competitions.

East Bengal has a rich legacy in Indian football, having won numerous domestic titles, including National Football League championships, Federation Cups, and regional tournaments like the Calcutta Football League and the IFA Shield. It is the only Indian club to have won the ASEAN Club Championship, which it did in 2003, a historic achievement for Indian football.

In recent years, East Bengal has competed in the Indian Super League (ISL), where its performances have been mixed, often finishing in the lower half of the table. However, in 2024, the club made headlines by winning the Indian Super Cup, their first major title in 12 years. The same year, they also clinched the Calcutta Football League title, reaffirming their dominance in regional competitions.
